Florida Tech Botanical Garden Naming Ceremony Set for April 23

WHAT: Ceremony celebrating the naming of the Gordon and Joy Patterson Botanical Garden. Florida Tech’s renowned Botanical Garden, comprised of 15 acres of tropical flora and fauna, including about 60 species of palm tree, is one of the university’s most popular amenities.

WHO: Gordon Patterson, a professor in the School of Arts and Communication, and Joy Patterson, an English instructor in the School of Arts and Communication, have made a generous commitment to the health and vitality of the Botanical Garden. They will be joined at the dedication by Florida Tech President Dwayne McCay and others.

WHEN: 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 23

WHERE: Little Red Schoolhouse in the Botanical Garden.

MORE: A sign bearing the Botanical Garden’s new name will be unveiled, along with wayfinding placards featuring the new name. Music, refreshments and fellowship to follow in the garden’s large pavilion.
