Florida Tech Boxes up Books for Bolivia

– Responding to a request by the Indialantic Rotary Club, Florida Tech’s Evans Library recently sent 37 boxes of engineering books and journals to the
Rotary Club for shipping to the National School of Engineering of the Technical University of Oruro, Bolivia, near La Paz.

Max Villagra Romay, district governor of the Oruro Rotary Club, made the original request to the Indialantic club after reading in an international Rotary
Club newsletter that the Indialantic Rotary had donated thousands of technical and medical books, and periodicals to Latin American countries for more than
16 years. The library for the Bolivian university’s 5,500 students, wrote Romay, is in great need of up-to-date books and publications.

The materials sent by Florida Tech are duplicates of materials already on Evans Library shelves, or are deemed inappropriate to add to the library
collection.

“We will continue this program of donation as long as the Indialantic Rotary Club would like for us to,” said Florida Tech President Anthony J. Catanese.
Catanese is also a member of the Indialantic Rotary Club.
