Textiles Lecture by Interwoven Guest Artist Oct. 6 Presents Warp and Weft

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Institute of Technology will host an artist lecture as part of the Friends of Textiles Lecture Series on Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. in the Gleason Center for Performing Arts on campus. Guest speaker Andrea Donnelly, a weaver who creates large-scale warp- and weft-dyed installations, is also a featured artist in Interwoven, the current exhibit at the Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts.

Donnelly has translated her artistic vision into successful exhibits at both the national and international levels, including shows at the Rijswijk Textile Biennal in Rijswijk, Netherlands; Cutting Edge at the Textile Arts Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Fiberart International 2010 in Pittsburgh, Penn.

The recipient of the prestigious Windgate Fellowship, Donnelly received her undergraduate degrees in psychology, and art and design from North Carolina State University in 2006. In 2010, she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in fibers from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Donnelly’s work in Interwoven is on display through Dec. 17.
