Florida Tech College Players Presents Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night”

– Florida Tech College Players presents its spring play, Twelfth Night. Show dates for this classic comedy by William Shakespeare are March 25, 26 and 31,
and April 1 and 2 at 8 p.m. in the university’s Gleason Performing Arts Center.

Twelfth Night, or What You Will, was composed by William Shakespeare in either 1600 or 1601 as the last of his three “mature comedies.” Like his early
comedies, Twelfth Night is essentially a celebration of romantic love The play has many of the elements common to Elizabethan romantic comedy, including
the devices of mistaken identity, separated twins, and gender-crossing disguise. The plot revolves around overcoming obstacles to “true” love. Unlike his
early comedies, Shakespeare also strikes some discordant notes in Twelfth Night. For example, the subject of insanity surfaces as a theme and as a force
within the plot.

Tickets for the show are $8, adults; $5, senior citizens; and $2, children and students with I.D. The Gleason Performing Art’s Center is on the Florida
Tech campus at the corner of University Blvd. and Babcock St.

The play will be performed by special arrangement with the Student Activities Funding Committee. For more information, contact College Players at (321)
