Florida Tech Faculty Member Asks, What Would Alexander Hamilton Think of Florida?

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Robert Taylor, Florida Tech associate professor and chair of the Department of Humanities and Communication, will present “Hamilton’s
Vision and the Florida Dream” twice in the month of September. He will speak on Sept. 16, 2-4 p.m., at the Franklin DeGroodt Memorial Library in Palm Bay
and on Sept. 25, 7-9 p.m., at the Satellite Beach Public Library.

His presentation is part of the Florida Humanities Council East Central Florida Area program series. The series is free and open to the public.

“I will lay out Alexander Hamilton’s vision for America, as expressed in his writings and look at how well that vision has come to pass in Florida,” said
Taylor.

A national traveling exhibition on Alexander Hamilton: The Man Who Made Modern America, will be at the DeGroodt library Aug. 23-Oct. 5, 2007. The display
tells the story of the statesman whose face is on the ten-dollar bill and who became the nation’s first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury.

Taylor, a resident of Palm Bay, is author of eight books, including Florida: An Illustrated History and Rebel Storehouse: Florida in the Confederacy.
