Chad Shoultz Named Vice President of Facilities Operations, Effective Aug. 29

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Chad Shoultz, who earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Florida Institute of Technology in 1996, has been hired as the university’s vice president of facilities operations, effective Monday, Aug. 29.
Shoultz currently serves as president of the university’s Alumni Association.
He most recently worked as deputy city manager/engineering director for the City of West Melbourne.
As vice president of facilities operations, Shoultz responsibilities will include oversight of campus construction projects, involvement with Florida Tech’s capital planning efforts, and the development and implementation of programs to create and maintain safe, functional and secure facilities on campus.
The Indialantic resident said he is excited about coming back to his alma mater.
“Florida Tech has been a special place to me since the first time I stepped foot on campus as a prospective student,” Shoultz said. “I’m honored to have served as president of the alumni association and excited for this opportunity to lead the staff that helps ensure the continued improvement of campus life for the university community.”
Before being hired by West Melbourne last year, Shoultz worked for the City of Palm Bay from 1998 to 2015, serving as acting city manager and deputy city manager for his final four years there. He earlier worked in the private sector, serving as a project manager at a consulting engineering firm and construction estimator at a general contracting company.
In addition to earning his degree, Shoultz played baseball for Florida Tech and was a member of the 1992 South Atlantic Region championship team that was inducted into the FIT Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. He played professionally for the Anderson Lawmen of the Mid-America League in 1995.
In addition to his degree from Florida Tech, Shoultz earned an MBA from the University of Central Florida in 2001.
“Chad’s 20 years of professional experience in operations, budget management, capital improvement projects and more, coupled with his intimate knowledge of Florida Tech built as an alumnus and then as president of our alumni association, makes him the perfect fit for this position,” said Gaby Hawat, Florida Tech’s senior vice president for operations and global initiatives. “We are thrilled to welcome him back to campus.”
