Florida Tech Falls Once Again in Close Match 2-1 Against Embry-Riddle
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The Florida Tech Panthers (2-4-1) finished another disappointing match against the Embry-Riddle Eagles (3-5) falling 2-1 this evening.
Shots were pretty much dead even for the game with Tech tallying one less 15 to 16 for the game.
The Eagle’s junior midfielder Katrina Morgan (Burien, Washington) opened the scoring early with her first goal of the season coming in the 4th minute as
she found the net off a corner kick courtesy of teammate sophomore midfielder Valerie Rogers (Glendale, Arizona).
Embry-Riddle struck again in the 25th minute as junior forward Jessica Garcia (Deltona, Florida) made a text book pass from the middle connecting with
fellow junior midfielder Cathy Lesnik (Lockport, Illinois) who finessed it past the keeper powering the ball in the upper right side of the net.
Down by two, Florida Tech was not about to lie down as junior defender Rocio Hernandez (Madrid, Spain) took it upon herself to split through two Eagle
defenders make a quick pass the fellow junior midfielder Miranda Tessier (Vero Beach, Florida) and land a goal over the top of ERAU keeper sophomore
Stephanie Taylor (Titusville, Florida) one minute later putting the Panthers with in one at the end of the half.
Despite scoring the last goal of the game the Panthers were unable to come back in the second half running out of time to take back the match.
Despite suffering the loss sophomore goalie Erica Wales (Huntsville, Alabama) had five saves for the contest.
Tech is back action on Monday, September 26th traveling to Palm Beach Atlantic for a 7:00 p.m. match against the provisional NCAA Division II opponents.
