Florida Tech Falls to Franklin Pierce, 8-3

MELBOURNE, Fla.- The Florida Tech Panthers dropped their fourth consecutive game today, losing to visiting Franklin Pierce 8-3. Sophomore Brendan Twomey
(Boca Raton, FL) went 3-4 for the Panthers with one RBI.

Senior Bryan Stanton (Merritt Island, FL) and senior Devin Hopkins (Pembroke Pines, FL) each went 2-4. Hopkins scored once and drove in a run; Bryan
Stanton drove in one run. Junior Jon Baksh (Mississauga, Canada) also went 2-4 for the home team.

The Ravens scored the game’s first run in the top of the second. Senior Bryan Duplissie (East Swanzey, NH) led off the inning with a single through the
left side of the infield, and later scored on a freshman Scott Savastano (Plymouth, MA) single.

Franklin Pierce added three more runs to their lead in the third inning. After the lead-off batter struck out looking junior Garrett Olson (Norway, ME)
doubled to left centerfield. He advanced to third on an infield groundball and scored on an RBI-single up the middle by senior Mike Chambers (Londonderry,
NH). Bryan Duplissie followed Chambers with a two-run homerun, bringing the score to 4-0.

Tech posted their first run in the fourth inning. Bryan Stanton smacked a one-out double to deep centerfield and reached third on a Jon Baksh single up the
middle. Stanton came in to score on an RBI-single by Devin Hopkins.

Both teams remained scoreless in the fifth and sixth inning. The Ravens added another run in the seventh inning when Garrett Olson crossed the plate on a
double-play ball.

In the ninth inning the visitors scored their last three runs, taking an 8-1 lead heading into the bottom of the inning. The Panthers managed to load the
bases and score two runs, but could not overcome the Raven lead. The game ended on an infield groundball with the final score sitting at 8-3 in favor of
the Ravens.

Freshman Mike Piazza (Port St. Lucie, FL) received the loss for the Panthers. He pitched six innings and allowed seven hits, four runs, and three walks
while striking out two. The Panthers bullpen went a combined three innings and allowed four hits, four runs, and four walks while striking out two.

The Panthers fall to 18-10 while the Franklin Pierce Ravens improve to 9-1. Tech hosts Sunshine State Conference rivals St. Leo this weekend in a
conference three-game series. The first game is scheduled for Friday at 3:00 pm.
