Florida Tech Fellowship Honors Soldier Killed in Iraq

– An anonymous donor has given $10,000 to establish the permanent Major Mathew Earl Schram ALMC-LEDC/FT Endowed Fellowship. The fellowship, for Florida
Institute of Technology’s School of Extended Graduate Studies ‘ (SEGS) Ft. Lee, Va. center, will support U.S. military officers enrolled in the SEGS
Logistics Executive Development Course (LEDC)-Florida Tech (FT) cooperative graduate degree program. The program is at the Army Logistics Management
College at Fort Lee.

Major Schram, 36, was killed in May 2003 northwest of Baghdad when gunmen ambushed a military convoy he was riding in during a re-supply mission. A native
of Brookfield, Wis., he had been in the Army since 1989 and participated in the first Gulf War 12 years ago. He was a 2001 graduate of the LEDC-FT master’s
degree program.

The endowment will support one or more annual fellowships. The first fellowship will be awarded for the fall 2004 semester. For more information or to make

This is the first fellowship established for a Florida Tech SEGS center. The Melbourne-based university offers graduate degrees through 10 centers around
the country.
