Florida Tech Gets Some ‘Love’ From Popular Mechanics Magazine

Publication Ranks Top Science, Tech Schools

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Popular Mechanics is smitten with Florida Tech.

The magazine, first published in 1902, has waded into the business of ranking institutions of higher education. In an article published in the November issue spotlighting what it calls the “top science and tech colleges,” Popular Mechanics listed Florida Tech and a handful of other schools in the Southeast as part of its “More STEM Schools We Love” section.

Others in that category included Georgia Tech, Duke and Johns Hopkins.

“We looked for the most innovative and exciting, the unsung schools best preparing students for tomorrow through STEM classes, academic clubs, undergrad research, and strong ties to industry,” reporter Matt Allyn wrote.
