Florida Tech Graduate Drafted by Toronto Blue Jays

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Steven Condotta, a May 2007 graduate of Florida Institute of Technology, was drafted in June to play baseball for the Toronto Blue Jays. He was picked in the 12th round.

Condotta will be reunited with his former Florida Tech teammate Jon Baksh, who was drafted by the Blue Jays in 2006. The draft provided a homecoming to Canadian Condotta, who comes from Mississauga, Ontario. It’s about 20 minutes from Toronto.

The six-foot, 180-pound shortstop batted .431 and was 42-of-45 in stolen bases for the Florida Tech Panthers this past season. He also had a .937 fielding percentage in 2007. This led the Sunshine State Conference and the entire Division II South Region. He set six Florida Tech records and ranks in the top 10 in four other categories.

Condotta was named a Division II preseason All-America by Baseball America.
