Reggae Star Matisyahu Headlines Free Concert Oct. 25

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Tech’s Homecoming 2019 will run Oct. 24-27 and feature something for everyone, from concerts to gridiron action to a “Pub Prowl” highlighting alumni-owned establishments in the Harbor City.

With the theme “Bringin’ It Home,” Homecoming 2019 celebrates the diversity of Florida Tech’s student and alumni body as well as the spirit of gathering embodied by Homecoming celebrations.

Here’s a look at Homecoming highlights:

Thursday, Oct. 24

  • 6 p.m.: Meg O’Malley’s presents the Homecoming 5K Walk/Run in downtown Melbourne. Features T-shirts, goody bags and a post-race party at Meg’s. Click here to register through the Running Zone’s secure site and for more information. Registration ends Oct. 23.

Friday, Oct. 25

  • 6 p.m.-midnight: Homecoming Fest in downtown Melbourne. The Florida Tech Alumni Association and Student Government Association, in partnership with Deuterman Productions, will offer a memorable evening featuring street vendors, food, drinks and free music from the unique reggae superstar Matisyahu as well as Hirie, RDGLDGRN and Kash’d Out. Saturday, Oct. 26

  • 1-4 p.m.: Homecoming football game: Florida Tech Panthers vs. West Florida at Florida Tech Panther Stadium. The Homecoming King and Queen will be presented at halftime. Tailgating starts at 10 a.m. on campus, and the alumni section is located on the grassy area behind Harris Student Design Center. Tickets are available here.
  • 6:30-10:30 p.m.: Homecoming Gala, Clemente Center. The black-tie event will feature dinner and awards, including the presentation of the Jerome P. Keuper Distinguished Alumni Award, followed by dancing and music. Registration and tickets required. Click here for details.

Oct. 24-26:

  • Panther Pub Prowl throughout Homecoming where participants can visit alumni-owned bars and breweries in and around Melbourne. Look for Pete the Panther at each location, take a picture, and tag us in your Facebook and Instagram photos to be entered to win Florida Tech swag bags. #PantherPride #Panther4Life #FloridaTechHomecoming2019. Sunday, Oct. 27

  • 11 a.m.: Florida Tech Catholic Campus Ministry cordially invites all alumni, parents, families and friends to an Alumni Mass celebrated by Fr. Michael Neeland, SDS. Following the Mass, coffee and donuts will be available in the fellowship area.
