Florida Tech Honored with Chamber’s Impact Award

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Institute of Technology President Anthony J. Catanese recently accepted a prestigious community honor bestowed upon the university. The Melbourne Regional Chamber of East Central Florida recognized Florida Tech with its Impact Award for community contributions and partnership.

Florida Tech was particularly lauded for its creation of the Harris Center for Science and Engineering, in partnership with Harris Corp.; the dedication of the Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts; and the introduction of the Florida Tech Research Park, in collaboration with Melbourne International Airport.

“Florida Tech is not only ‘in’ this community, it is ‘of’ this community,” Catanese said in accepting the award. “We look forward to the many future community collaborations to come.”

Other organizations honored with the Impact Award were Harris Corp. and Melbourne International Airport.
