FLORIDA TECH HOSTS 2006 MIDNIGHT MADNESS DURING FALL HOMECOMING

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Tech will be hosting the 3rd Midnight Madness on Saturday, October 14th, 2006. Florida Tech last hosted the event in 2003 to kick
off the start of official NCAA Division II basketball season. After midnight on this date, both the men’s and women’s teams are permitted to begin full
team practices. The past two years, the date has conflicted with Florida Tech’s fall break, but this year it was re-instated to coincide with the first
annual Fall Homecoming on campus.

This year, the men’s program will be running the show solo, with the women’s team hosting their alumni game the next day on Sunday, October 15th at noon at
the Clemente Center.

Some of the sponsors include the Florida Tech “Rock the World” Homecoming Committee, Alpha Tau Omega, Meg O’Malley’s, Domino’s, Green Turtle Market,
Cingular Wireless, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Campus Food Services.

Everyone from the community is welcome to attend Midnight Madness. The event will be held in the Charles and Ruth Clemente Center on the Florida Tech
campus. Florida Tech students, faculty and staff are encouraged to be there to support the athletic program.

“Saturday marks the beginning of NCAA college basketball across the nation and we are asking the campus community, as well as, the Space Coast community to
come out and help us kick off the season,” stated second-year head men’s basketball coach Billy Mims. “The event will allow the fans to meet the 2006-2007
squad and join us in the excitement of the new basketball season.”

The doors will open Saturday night at 11:00 p.m. and the games and raffles will begin immediately, followed by the introduction of the 2006-2007 men’s
basketball team at 11:50 p.m. Along with the players and coaches, the event will also feature the 2006-2007 Panther cheerleading squad, the Infinity
College Player Dancers, the Panther Pep Band and the voice of Florida Tech J.C. Meyerholz.

The first 300 fans to arrive will receive a free Midnight Madness T-Shirt. Some of the raffle items for the evening will include free dinner gift
certificates from Meg O’Malley’s, free merchandise gift certificates from Dick’s Sporting Goods, free pizza certificates from Dominos.

Students will be able to compete for the grand prizes of two I-Pod shuffles and three Cingular Pantech phone certificates. There will also be free popcorn
and soft drinks along with hot dogs donated by the Green Turtle.

“This is going to be a fantastic party,” said Mims. “We are looking forward to everyone coming out and enjoying the evening at the Clemente Center.”
