– The new Web site for the International Society for Reef Studies (ISRS), the world’s premier coral reef society, is now broadcasting live from Florida
Institute of Technology. The link is: http://www.fit.edu/isrs/.
Dr. Robert van Woesik, associate professor of biological sciences and noted expert on coral bleaching, was key in establishing the site and will be in
charge of maintaining it. He also is a council member of the ISRS.
The ISRS membership extends over 60 countries. Founded in 1980, the society’s objective is to promote public dissemination of scientific knowledge and
understanding of coral reefs, living and fossil.
Van Woesik is working with Florida Tech mathematician Dr. Semen Koksal to create a model to better understand and predict deadly coral bleaching.
