Pantehrs Fowled by Stormy Petrels in Men’s Soccer Action

ATLANTA, Ga.-Florida Tech (1-2-1) suffers loss against NCAA Division III Oglethorpe University (4-1) 2-1 after successfully keeping #7 Clayton State to a
scoreless double overtime tie yesterday in Atlanta this weekend.

The Panthers opened up the scoring in the first half when freshman midfielder Brad Laporte (Port St. Lucie, FL) crossed an explosive pass to senior forward
Ramiro Rodriguez (Montevideo, Uruguay ) who managed to clip the cross bar. Senior forward Mo Al Sharif was able to score in the 30th minute off Ramiro’s
attempt. Tech held the lead 1-0 going into the half.

Despite a tough defense in the half, the Panthers gave up two goals in the second half to lose 2-1 when the final Petrel’s goal came at the 65th minute.

Despite nine shots on goal and seven saves freshman keeper Cory Collins (Melbourne, FL) picked up his first collegiate loss after a shut-out against
Clayton State. Shots in the game were dead even at 12 and 12, whereas the Petrels tallied nine shots on goal to Tech’s six for the match. Corner kicks were
also at a dead heat with both teams having three corners apiece.

The Panthers will be back in action opening up conference play on the road facing #11 Lynn University on Wednesday, September 14 at 3:00 p.m. in Boca
Raton, FL.
