Florida Tech Joins G.I. Bill Yellow Ribbon Program, Eases Costs for Vets, Dependents

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology has joined the approximately 700 colleges and universities nationwide who are part of a program that waives
a portion of the tuition and costs for post-9/11 veterans and eligible dependents. The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program is a provision of the
Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008.

Through the program, Florida Tech has voluntarily entered into an agreement with the Veterans Administration (VA) to fund tuition expenses that exceed the
highest public in-state undergraduate tuition rate. Florida Tech will fund 100 such students annually on its main, Melbourne campus, waiving undergraduate
tuition and fees of varying amounts, depending on the college in which the eligible student enrolls. Up to 100 graduate students can also receive waivers.

Additionally, Florida Tech waives some costs for 250 students enrolled through its main campus-based online learning undergraduate programs; graduate
programs at extended studies sites offer waivers for the first 10 eligible students at each site.
Florida Tech has extended studies sites in five states — most are participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program. In Florida, these sites include Orlando and
Spaceport (Kennedy Space Center and Rockledge).

Other participating sites are Redstone Arsenal, Ala.; Aberdeen Proving Ground and Patuxent River, Md.; Picatinny Arsenal, N.J.; and Fort Lee, National
Capital Region and Hampton Roads, Va., and The Virtual Campus.

Eligible veterans are those at the 100% Post 9/11 GI Bill benefit level, which means they served a total of 36 months on active duty after September 10,
2001. The VA matches each dollar that an institution contributes toward an eligible student’s tuition costs, up to 50 percent of the difference between the
student’s tuition benefit and the total cost of tuition and mandatory fees.

Eligible individuals are encouraged to visit the Department of Veterans Affairs Web site at http://gibill.va.gov/GI_Bill_Info/benefits.htm#CH33 to obtain
in-depth information about the Post-9/11 GI Bill benefit and the Yellow Ribbon Program.
