Florida Tech Names New Controller

– Florida Tech Vice President of Financial Affairs, Richard Bartrem, announces that James Bookout Jr. has been named Controller at Florida Institute of
Technology.

Bookout will direct the financial services operations of the university and prepare financial analysis for management. His major responsibilities also
include financial statements, taxes, cash/treasury management, endowment/investment accounting, contracts and grants, property accounting and student
financial services.

Most recently, Bookout was director of Sponsored Research Accounting Services at Florida State University in Tallahassee. As part of the Division of
Finance and Administration, he provided all budget and accounting services to the university’s Office of Research, ensuring compliance with required
federal regulations. He directed the planning, administrative and financial accounting projects and services in support of sponsored research.

Prior to that position, Bookout was chief financial officer/assistant treasurer of the Florida State University Foundation, Inc. in Tallahassee. A
fifty-member board of trustees governs the foundation, which now has approximately $400 million in assets.

He has also held financial administrative posts at the University of Florida and University of South Alabama and, as a CPA, worked as an accountant with
private consulting and public accounting firms. Bookout earned degrees in accounting and business management from Florida State University and the
University of West Florida in Pensacola.
