Florida Tech Offers Free Music Showcase

MELBOURNE, FLA. — The Florida Tech choir, wind ensemble and string ensemble, led by Jamie Younkin, assistant professor of music, will present a Music
Showcase on April 8 at 7:30 p.m. The free concert, bearing the theme, “Play with Your Music,” will be held in the Gleason Center for Performing Arts.

Each group will perform a variety of pieces as a unit and some works will be performed by the three groups together.

“We will explore a variety of styles from both old and new repertories and reinvent them as our own. We will not only play music, but play with our music
by adding our own ideas and styles,” said Younkin.

The final piece will be J.S. Bach’s Cantata no. 80 “in a new arrangement” added Younkin, “with saxophones, singers and spirit to spare.”
