Panthers Take Two SSC Player of the Week Honors

ORLANDO, Fla. — Senior men’s soccer player Brian Lundy and
junior women’s cross country runner Carolyn Salois each were
named Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week. The SSC honors at-least eight student-athletes each week for all of the NCAA Division II fall sports.
This includes offensive and defensive players of the week for men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball along with a male and female runner of the week.

Lundy a local stand-out from Satellite Beach was awarded Florida Tech’s first SSC award for men’s soccer in the 2006 season. The defender of the week
helped the Panthers post consecutive wins for first time in over four years, picking up road wins at Lambuth 4-1 and #25 Christian Brothers 2-1, a south
region rival.

In those two victories, the Florida Tech defense allowed just one goal in each match. Lundy also posted his first assist on the season helping the Crimson
and Gray strikers’ tie-up the game against the nationally ranked Bucs.

Lundy, a business administration and accounting major at Florida Tech, has been the captain of the team for the past two seasons.

Salois another local stand-out runner from Palm Bay. The graduate from Bayside High School is a chemistry education major at Tech. She finished second
among 89 runners and led the Panthers to the team’s first victory of the year at Saturday’s Smoothie King Invitational in Daytona Beach. Salois turned in a
5K time of 20:22.64, just 14 seconds behind the first-place finisher.

Salois also paced her team at the Embry Riddle Invitational with a first place team finish grabbing the trophy for the second straight year. Salois also
topped all SSC runners from three separate conference schools including Nova Southeastern, Rollins and Saint Leo.

This is the third time Salois has won this honor from the conference receiving the SSC runner of the week both her freshman and sophomore years.

With both men’s soccer and women’s cross country receiving the honor, Tech has now received a SSC Athlete of the Week in every fall sport for the 2006
campaign.
