St. Valentine Passes up the Panthers Falling 80-63 in Mens Action

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (men’s basketball) — Florida Tech unable to overtake the Barry Buccaneers, ranked 5th in the NCAA DII south region, on the road 80-63 for
the St. Valentine’s Day sweep. Tech went without starting center Janko Mrksic (Stoney Creek, Ontario) due to a foot injury for the night.

Florida Tech came out slow and was unable to catch a break heading into the locker room with a 45-33 half-time score. Rebounding was a major part of the
loss with the Bucs out hustling Tech under the boards 49-to-30 for the conference show down.

Freshman Justin Sedlak (Pezinik, Slovakia) stepped up scoring 20 points and grabbing six rebounds to lead the Panthers. Junior Jod Kelley (McCormick, S.C.)
was the only other player in crimson to notch double figures finishing with 15 points and pulling down five boards. Both Sedlak and Kelley combined for
four blocks on the night as well.

Three Bucs notched double figures with two of the high scorers coming off the Bench. Reservists Felipe Barrios (Miami, Fla.), SSC Player of the Week, and
Chad Bishop (Orlando, Fla.) combined for 25 points while starting guard Phil Puccia (Buffalo, N.Y.) broke 12 points.

In the first half the closest Tech came was a 13-10 break off a shot from down town by Sedlak at 13:50 on the game clock. Junior E.J. Murray (Rockledge,
Fla.) tried again to close the gap within the first five minutes of the second half on a seven point Panther tear finished off by two made free throws from
Murray.

Murray had a rough night shooting adding only nine points and four rebounds. Coming off the bench, Ryan Ballard (Melbourne, Fla.) managed to achieve a
season high pitching in six assists. Ballard led all players with assists and added two steals for Tech.

The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday, February 17 when the host Nova Southeastern at a 4:00 p.m. tip-off. The game can be followed via live
stats along with live video and audio on the panther website at http://gopanthers.fit.edu/stretch.php .
