Florida Tech Presents Presidents Medal to Phillip W. Farmer

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology presented its most prestigious award, the President’s Medal, to Phillip W. Farmer on Dec. 13 at the
university’s fall commencement ceremony.

Retired chairman, president and chief executive officer of Harris Corporation, Farmer is chair of the board of trustees and chair of the executive
committee of Florida Tech. He also serves as chair of the Golden Anniversary Capital Campaign.

His career at Harris spanned more than 21 years following 21 years of employment at General Electric Company. He also serves on the board of two
not-for-profit organizations in Melbourne and is a member of the board of directors of the King Center for the Performing Arts.
He is also a member of the board of directors of Vulcan Materials Company and past chairman of the Manufacturers Alliance, a national association of more
than 500 manufacturing companies.

“Mr. Farmer has been singularly dedicated to the growth and success of Florida Tech for many years. He goes above and beyond the support one could ever
hope for from an industrial leader and we are proud of his friendship,” said Florida Tech President Anthony J. Catanese.

The President’s Medal acknowledges individuals who have provided superior service, support and dedication to the university. There have been only 13 others
honored with the medal to date.
