Florida Tech Rallies to Suppport Relay for Life
Florida Tech student and faculty-staff teams will complete relays in the Charles and Ruth Clemente Center for Sports and Recreation March 31-April 1 in
support of Relay for Life. Similar relays involving other groups will take place those same days at various locations throughout the county, and throughout
the country.
Relay for Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise funds for research and programs of the American Cancer Society.
During the event, individuals in teams of 10-15 members, each take turns walking or running laps all night long. Each team tries to keep at least one team
member on the track at all times.
This year the Florida Tech campus community has joined in several fundraisers prior to the relay event. A luncheon was already held, which brought in $550
for the cause. A brunch and ice cream social are scheduled for later in March. Last year Florida Tech organizers received an American Cancer Society
Pacesetter Award for success in raising money and putting together teams.
This year one community team has signed up to join with Florida Tech teams in the relays. More are welcome.
