Florida Tech Splits with Saint Leo Pushing Tech Into 1st Place in SSC

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Despite losing a rough game opener in the 10th inning, the Panthers took two of the three games in the SSC series against Saint Leo
(19-9, 3-3). In the double header action Florida Tech (19-4), lost the first game 6-5 due to the international rule to place a runner on second. The
Panthers came back to take the nightcap from the Lions 9-5 pushing them into first place for the first time in their history with an 8-1 conference record.

In game one, the Lion’s shortstop Ali Flynn singled home the winning run in the 10th inning of the opener to give Saint Leo University the extra inning
victory.

Tech scored their runs in the second, third and seventh, with three of them in the top of the third. Senior catcher Courtney Harless (St. Cloud, Fla.) had
a field day for the Panthers. She hit a two-run homer in the in the third and a pair of two-run homers (first and third innings) in the nightcap. Harless
finished with three runs, three hits (all homers) and six RBI for the day.

For the double header, junior Katie Naumoff (Poland, Ohio) went 3-for-7 with one run including a stand-up double. Senior Karen D’Alberto (Cape Coral, Fla.)
also went 3-for-7 with one run, but added two RBI and notched her second triple on the season.
