Florida Tech Sporting Affair Is Casual Evening
– Florida Tech’s Sporting Affair 2004 will be a tailgate party on March 20, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the university’s Clemente Center for Sports and
Recreation. Casual attire will be de rigueur for the event. The donation is $100 per person.
Pat Clarke of WESH-TV, channel 2, will emcee the live auction. The auction’s limited, but carefully selected, items up for bid include dinner for six
aboard a private yacht, and tickets for four with limousine transportation to an Orlando Magic game, with dinner at Boheme.
Other auction items include packages for Boston Red Sox baseball and Tampa Bay Buccaneers football games.
Sporting Affair also offers the Panther Invitational Golf Tournament that day, from 8 a.m. to noon at Suntree Country Club, and the “Chopper Dropper” on
March 19. All Sporting Affair events support Florida Tech Department of Athletics student scholarships. For the
Chopper Dropper, a $50 donation will give a donor one numbered golf ball, or one chance of winning. Among the numbered balls that will rain down from a
helicopter onto the Suntree Country Club golf course will be one lucky ball that lands in or closest to the cup. That ball will win 50 percent of the
Chopper Dropper proceeds for its sponsor-up to $25,000.
