Florida Tech Art Camps Foster Creativity, Art Appreciation
Registration Underway; Camps Start June 7
MELBOURNE, FLA. — Featuring small classes taught by arts educators and a focus on creative development, art appreciation and fun, art camps at Florida Institute of Technology’s Foosaner Art Museum begin June 7 and are held through July 29.
This year’s camps, “Places and Faces,” explore different art-making traditions found around the world.
At the camps, which run Tuesday through Friday, participants will visit the museum’s galleries, observing and learning about current exhibitions and the permanent collection. The guided gallery tours emphasize the importance of the art/art-viewer relationship and can inspire students for their hands-on experiences at the nearby Renee Foosaner Education Center.
The four morning camps will include lessons on different cultures in eight countries, including Egypt, Madagascar, the Arctic and Australia. Afternoon camps are media-specific and feature camps that explore printmaking, painting and more.
Morning camps run from 9 a.m. to noon, with pre-K and kindergarten camps from 9-11 a.m. Afternoon camps are from 1-4 p.m. Full-day camps combine morning and afternoon sessions. Grades and age divisions are preschool (3 years – 5 years, including rising kindergarteners); rising 1st and 2nd graders; rising 3rd and 4th graders; and rising 5th and 6th graders. Rising 7-10th grade camps are offered for Weeks 3 and 4.
Participants may customize their experience by enrolling for whatever length of time is preferred. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis; all participants must register in advance.

Morning and afternoon camps are $100 each per week for museum members and $120 each for non-members. Full-day camps are $200 per week for members and $225 for non-members. The camp fee covers the cost of all materials. Students provide their own snacks, a drink and lunch. Through May 29, families will receive an early registration discount of 10 percent off regular tuition prices. (The prices online already reflect the discount.) Confirmed full-time Florida Tech faculty and staff may receive a 20 percent discount by using discount code CAMP20.
The camp experience will conclude with a two-day student exhibition at the education center on Aug. 4-5.
