MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Institute of Technology has been notified by the Melbourne Beautification & Environmental Advisory Committee that it has been selected to receive a “We Noticed” award for outstanding plantings and landscaping. The award is for the new Florida Tech Commons building at the corner of University Boulevard and Babcock Street, which opened in September 2012.
“We value an attractive campus and give much attention to maintaining and beautifying the Florida Tech grounds. It pleases us greatly to be honored for these efforts,” said President Anthony J. Catanese.

A member of the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners, Catanese previously maintained a private practice in design, planning and development. He was appointed by President Jimmy Carter to the National Urban Policy Task Force. He served as chair of the Milwaukee City Planning Board and the Gainesville City Planning Commission.
The award presentation will be made during the Feb. 12 city council meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Melbourne City Hall.
