Noted Artist, Watercolorist J. Susan Cole Stone at Foosaner Art Museum April 16
MELBOURNE, FLA.—Museum Monday, a programof the Foosaner Art Museum, Florida Institute of Technology, presents prize-winning watercolorist J. Susan Cole Stone April 16, at 10 a.m., in the museum’s Harris Community Auditorium.
Stone, artist member, co-owner and director of art education at the Art Gallery of Viera, is also Plein-Aire chairperson for the Brevard Watercolor Society. Watercolor is her favorite medium, followed closely by pen and ink. Stone relocated from Westerly, R.I., to Florida in January 2010. In addition to natural history (rendering birds, particularly waterfowl), she is an accomplished artist of architectural subjects and can render a detailed drawing from blueprints, or from life.
Stone has worked as a graphic artist and illustrator, exhibited in numerous galleries in Connecticut and won many awards for her watercolors and book illustrations. She traveled to Spain several years ago, where she says she found abundant inspiration in the ancient buildings, narrow streets and magnificent countryside. The result was a new body of work that took her art in another direction.

Museum Monday is a community outreach program that focuses on art and creativity in various forms. Sponsored by the Guild of the Foosaner Art Museum, the free programs are held in the Harris Community Auditorium at 10 a.m. on the third Monday, January through May. Light refreshments are served.
