As a Florida Tech student, your weekends are never typical. Instead of spending your time at a regular old restaurant or movie theater, you can go to places other college students can only dream about.
Here in Melbourne, it stays pretty warm year-round. That’s why it’s perfect that we are a five minute drive from the beach! Every weekend (or weekday, even), you can enjoy a nice day at the sandy paradise—swimming, surfing, sun bathing, body boarding or just relaxing with your friends.
A few miles away from campus is Andretti Thrill Park. There you can enjoy three go-kart tracks, mini-golf, rock climbing, laser tag, tons of arcade games, pizza and much more! How cool is that?
You don’t have to venture off campus to have a great time. FIT’s Botanical Garden is located right next to the Student Union Building (SUB). Here you can enjoy 15 acres of nature and just take some time to relax. It is also an excellent place to get a bit of work done and gain inspiration for projects or papers.
FIT is about an hour away from Orlando, home to Universal Studios, Disney World and Sea World theme parks. There you can enjoy numerous rides and attractions like The Kraken roller coaster, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and see shows like the Blue Man Group and Cirque Du Soleil.
About a 7 hour drive south, you reach the southernmost point of the United States. I went camping there during spring break this year, and— take my word for it— it’s not something you want to miss. The sunsets are amazing.
