DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Despite several scoring chances, the Florida Tech women’s soccer team could not find the back of the net which has handed the
Panthers their first loss on the season. Tech fell 2-0 against Embry-Riddle tonight.
Embry-Riddle opened the scoring in the fifth minute of play off a called penalty. Lindsay Evans (Farmington Hills, Mich.) for Embry-Riddle scored on the
penalty kick, notching the first goal of the game and the eventual game winner.
After the unlucky penalty by the Panthers, they were determined to match the goal to tie the game. Despite the efforts of Tech as a team, the Panthers
could not finish in the final third of the field. The scored stayed Embry-Riddle 1; Florida Tech 0 going into half.
As the second half got underway the Panthers were hungry to tie the game. Despite their efforts, the Panthers had unlucky touches on the ball along with
the defense of the Eagles clipping at their heels. The crimson and gray could not put together the finishing touches to notch a tying goal.
As play built at midfield and no dominate control showed, the Eagles got a touch on the ball which freed up Lindsey Evans (Farmington Hills, Mich.) who
snuck past the Panthers defense and scored 1v1 with goalie Melissa Pyles (Port Orange, Fla.) to add the final goal of the game in the 80th minute.
Florida Tech now moves to 2-1 on the season and will take on St. Thomas on Tuesday August 29th.
