Florida Tech’s Carey Gleason Graduates from Leadership Florida

– Carey Gleason, Florida Tech director of government and community relations, has graduated from the nine-month Leadership Florida program. One of forty
2004-2005 participants, Gleason studied economics, social history, environmental issues and personal leadership. The sessions met all over the state,
including Sarasota, Jacksonville, Miami, and at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

“Leadership Florida not only introduced me to new ideas and concepts but allowed me to meet many wonderful people from all around the state. It also gave
me the opportunity to familiarize people about the excellent research and talent that we have at Florida Tech,” said Gleason. “The Leadership Florida
experience strengthened not only my commitment to my local community but to my state community as well.”

The vision of Leadership Florida is to build a strong, diverse, statewide network of leaders with a shared commitment to connect communities and to make
Florida a better place in which to live and prosper. Gleason, who was just appointed to the Leadership Brevard Board of Directors, earned an M.B.A. degree
from Florida Tech in 1989.

Among the 800 Leadership Florida graduates include Florida Secretary of State Glenda Hood and State Senator Paula Dockery. Other gradates from Brevard
County include Malcolm Kirschenbaum, Jonnie Swann, Mike Coleman and Don Nohrr.
