Florida Techs Chi Phi Chapter Receives National Award

The Florida Tech Xi Delta chapter of the Chi Phi National Fraternity was awarded the Dr. Thomas Gehring Award for Most Improved Chapter at this year’s Chi
Phi Congress. The congress meets annually to review the state of the national fraternity and to accomplish legislative business. It met this year over four
days in June at the Hotel Allegro in Chicago, Ill.

The award is named for Dr. Thomas Gehring, a Chi Phi from Indiana University who served the national fraternity for 20 years until his death in 1980. It
was designed to distinguish chapters that exemplify characteristics adhering to the highest Chi Phi standards. Although more than one chapter may receive
the Most Improved Chapter award, Xi Delta was the only recipient for the year.

According to Brian Tenclinger, director of undergraduate services of Chi Phi, the selection committee was impressed with Xi Delta’s work to reduce a
significant debt to the National Fraternity. Also key was its adherence to Chi Phi core values of truth, honor, and personal integrity. Andrew Zeigler, Xi
Delta chapter advisor, was also awarded one of two Chapter Advisor of the Year awards presented at this year’s conference.

The congress, the legislative body of the Chi Phi National Fraternity, comprises delegates from chapters, colonies, alumni associations and Chi Phi clubs
from across the country. During the annual meeting, awards go to exceptional chapters and representative organizations to recognize outstanding commitment
to the fraternity’s ideals, values, and policies. Each of the fraternity’s 59 chapters are eligible to apply for any of the available awards. A special
selection committee, comprised of national headquarters representatives, alumni and undergraduates, choose the deserving chapters based on performance
during the previous year and the application materials submitted.

The Chi Phi National Fraternity is founded on the values of truth, honor and personal integrity. Chi Phi chapters currently are active on 59 college
campuses. For more information on Chi Phi, visit www.chiphi.org.
