Florida Tech’s Evans Library Displays Women’s Studies Collection

– To showcase a new, 1,576-item collection of women’s studies volumes, Florida Tech’s Evans Library has created a lobby display of the Sasha McInnes Book Collection. The collection, which includes many rare and out-of-print books, was dedicated in December 2002.

The collection features 28 categories of women’s studies including feminism, psychology/mental health, sexual abuse, social action, mythology, biography, children and family. Sasha McInnes, a prominent Canadian artist and tapestry weaver, originally acquired the books. She helped open the first battered women’s shelter and treatment center in the province of Ontario.

Although the display may be viewed through Jan. 28, the books are part of the Evans Library permanent collection. Friends of the Evans Library have check-out privileges and holdings are also available through Brevard County inter-library loan.

Evans Library is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-midnight; Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.-5p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.-midnight.
