Jet Dragster Driver Gaining Confidence with Each Race
MELBOURNE, FLA. — Hitting some of her fastest speeds of the summer, Florida Institute of Technology jet dragster driver Shea Holbrook continues to gain valuable experience and confidence as the IHRA Nitro Jam series heads north to Canada after a first-ever visit to Spokane County Raceway in the Pacific Northwest.
At the Nitro Jam Nationals Presented by Good Vibrations over the weekend in Airway Heights, Washington, Holbrook reached 264 mph in qualifying before being eliminated in the first round by Larsen Motorsports colleague and eventual winner Marisha Falk.
Falk went on to defeat 2014 IHRA Nitro Jam Champion Elaine Larsen in the finals, hitting 271 mph in her 5.887-second run to Larsen’s 270 mph, 5.944-second run.
“Shea did a great job in the jet dragster,” Larsen said. “She cut her best reaction time and is gaining all-important confidence with each round.”
The Larsen Motorsports team drove 2,200 miles to get to Spokane County Raceway for that venue’s first IHRA Nitro Jam event. It rained occasionally but not enough to cancel the races – unlike the three previous races, Larsen noted.
“I am so proud of the Larsen Motorsports teams. They have hung in there and we finally had a great weekend of racing,” she said.
Larsen Motorsports CEO Chris Larsen added, “Even with atmospheric conditions that are not what we are normally used to at nearly 5,000 feet corrected altitude, I was impressed with our crew chiefs’ ability to have the teams running so well.”
Next up for the team is the Nitro Jam Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by Good Vibrations July 17-19 at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. For more information, visit www.nitrojam.com.
