Florida Tech to Break Ground for New Aviation Center

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Tech will officially mark the start of construction of the Emil Buehler Center for Aviation Training and Research with a
groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 20, 9:30-10:30 a.m. The event, to take place on the south side of the Melbourne International Airport, will be moderated by
College of Aeronautics Dean Kenneth Stackpoole.

The new facility was announced in early 2006 when the university received a $1.5 million gift from the Emil Buehler Trust of Paramus, N.J. The center will
consist of a main building and hangar, located on eight acres at the airport. In addition to flight training, the building will house research centers in
human factors and simulation research. The building will also house a fixed-base operation, providing aviation services to the local population.

Completion is expected by the end of Summer 2008.
