Ismael Diaz, Florida Institute of Technology doctoral candidate in the Department of Physics and Space Sciences, received an Outstanding Student Paper Award for his poster presentation at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) meeting in San Francisco, Calif.

The poster, “Effects of Interplanetary Particle Transport on the Event Integrated Spectra of Solar Energetic Particles Observed in the Inner Heliosphere,” was recognized by the Space Physics and Aeronomy group of the AGU as among the best of a strong group of student papers at the meeting. The winning paper will be announced in Eos, an upcoming weekly newspaper of AGU.

Originally from Fort Hancock, Texas, Diaz was the only student involved in creating the poster. The other co-authors were Ming Zhang, department of physics and space sciences professor, and Hamid Rassoul, dean of the College of Science and department of physics and space sciences professor.
