Panthers Pounce Back with Win

CARROLLTON, Ga. (Women’s Soccer) – The Panthers continued their strong defensive play Sunday against the West Georgia
Wolves not allowing a goal in the 1-0 win.

“We did very well,” head coach Fidgi Haig said. “We redeemed
ourselves from last game and showed a lot of character.”

Haig was impressed by how his young team bounced back from Friday’s loss to head into a tough environment against a good West Georgia team and come out
with a win. Florida Tech made a few adjustments coming off the loss that paid off against the Wolves.

In the 30th minute, freshman forward Matilda Östergaard broke free
along the right side of the field and didn’t go unnoticed by freshman midfielder Alyssa Esposito. Esposito made
the pass for an assist that Östergaard kicked over the top of West Georgia’s goalkeeper.

“It was a good team effort,” Haig said. “It was a solid performance by all 11 players, and we got the result we wanted.”

The Panthers return to action against Palm Beach Atlantic in West Palm Beach, Fla. at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
