Forbes: Florida Tech Among Top 50 Most Entrepreneurial Universities

School Joins MIT, Harvard, Stanford on Prestigious List

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology is one of the nation’s 50 most entrepreneurial research universities, according to Forbes magazine.

The magazine derived its recent rankings using “entrepreneurial ratios,” which are the number of alumni and students who have identified themselves as founders and business owners on LinkedIn measured against the school’s total student body, including graduate students.

From its earliest days amid the innovation of the space program to the business incubators and specialized degree programs of today, Florida Tech has helped foster generations of entrepreneurs in a variety of fields, from aviation to technology to apparel.

“The entrepreneurial spirit runs deep here, starting with the creativity and knowledge Jerome Keuper brought with him when he founded our university and carrying through to today, when we have many ways to help our students explore and strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit within them,” said Florida Tech President and CEO Anthony J. Catanese.

A few examples of how Florida Tech is creating the next generation of entrepreneurs:

Degree programs: The Master of Science degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship.
Student Business Incubator: This campus-based initiative assists students in creating their own businesses while they earn their Florida Tech education.
The Nathan Bisk College of Business’ Center for Entrepreneurship and New Business Development, working with the incubator, engages students to investigate, research and launch their business
Visiting Entrepreneur Series, from the Nathan Bisk College of Business and the Women’ Business Center, brings accomplished business leaders to campus to share real-world experiences and insight.
