Fort Pierce Resident Earns UPS Scholarship at Florida Tech
– Zachary P. Pfeiffer, a resident of Fort Pierce, Fla., has received a United Parcel Service (UPS) scholarship of $2,750. He is a junior at Florida
Institute of Technology, majoring in ocean engineering. Pfeiffer was nominated by his university
department for the award. He is an active member of Tau Beta Pi/Engineering Honor Society and the Marine Technology Society. He has been named to the
Dean’s List, has been inducted into the Engineering Honor Society and is head of his senior design project team. The team is creating an autonomous, mobile
buoy.
Pfeiffer is one of more than 644 UPS scholars at private colleges and universities across the nation. The scholarships are funded annually by the UPS
Educational Endowment Fund, established by UPS at the Foundation for Independent Higher Education in Washington, D.C.
Florida Tech is the only independent scientific and technological university in the Southeast and was one of just five Florida schools selected in Barron’s
Best Buys in College Education. It is also named among America’s best colleges in U.S. News & World Report.
