Freshman Libero Melissa Reinders Reaches 400 Dig Milestone in Tonights Match; Tech Falling 3-0

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (volleyball) — The Florida Tech Panthers (2-19, 0-8) fell 3-0 against the Nova Southeastern Sharks (7-14, 1-7) after finishing their
first round rotation of Sunshine State Conference matches.  Despite the tough loss tonight at the Sharks’ brand new “University Center”
the Panthers still managed to lead in kills with thirty-six for the night.

The game scores slowly declined through-out the match with Tech making their best scoring effort in game one falling 30-28; subsequently giving up games
two and three 30-24 and 30-18. In game one the Crimson and Gray spikers out-hit the Sharks with a .200 attack percentage to a .152 Sharks’ attack
percentage. Tech had fourteen kills to NSU’s eleven for the first set.

In game two, again the Panthers led in kills with eleven to seven. The problem that the Panthers faced in the second set was the errors the team had with
it being their only negative hitting percentage of the three games. Nova Southeastern exploded in the final game garnishing the match high seventeen kills
to Tech’s eleven for the night.

Despite the loss, junior middle hitter Lindsay Foster (Titusville, Fla.) notched the match high with 10 kills. Foster achieved her second highest attack
percentage for the season hitting .471; leading her team as the only Panther to knock down a double figure with kills.

Defensively, freshman libero Melissa Reinders (Orlando, Fla.) led the way scooping up the game high 17 digs for the match. After tonight’s effort, Reinders
reached her 400th dig finishing with 401 for the night. Reinders is currently leading the conference in digs and is in the top 35 in the nation for digs
per game averaging 5.35 for her freshman campaign.

The Panthers will face Barry University in another SSC match tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. in Miami Shores.
