Fun, Fund Raising to Rev Up at Florida Tech Pinewood Derby

MELBOURNE, FLA. — It’s off to the races when the Florida Tech Ultimate Pinewood Derby comes to the Clemente Center on Saturday, July 19. The event, which
starts at 10:30 a.m., will pit adult drivers in a competition to raise money for the Central Florida Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).

No experience is necessary for the council’s first-ever adult event, which is held annually for Cub Scouts. The $150 entrance fee includes an official Cub
Scout Pinewood Derby Car kit and a full set of requirements for the Standard Rules Race. An additional $100 funds an entry in the Anything Goes Race, where
standard gravity power could get an assist from a variety of sources.

Awards include first, second and third for the two races. Additional prizes are in the offing for the Best Paint Job, Ugliest Car, Most Unusual Car and
Best Corporate Theme.

Participants are invited to challenge a friend. Sponsors are welcome, and companies and organizations are encouraged to enter.

The Clemente Center is located on Florida Tech’s Melbourne campus at Babcock Street and University Boulevard. The Central Florida Council of BSA includes
Brevard and Osceola counties.
