Gitlin, Lipscomb-Vasquez in New Positions at Florida Tech’s Women’s Business Center

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Fueled by its success and growth, the Women’s Business Center (WBC) at Florida Institute of Technology has announced new leadership positions for two of its key personnel.

Beth Gitlin has been named executive director of the center, having served as its director since May 2012. In her new role, Gitlin will oversee business at all WBC locations, including a new office in Orlando scheduled to open in January 2015. She will also lead strategic partnership and fundraising activities for the organization.

“I am pleased to take on an increased role in the oversight of all of our Women’s Business Centers,” Gitlin said. “I am passionate about the work I do here and look forward to continuing to inspire and mentor our current and future business leaders.”

Wanda Lipscomb-Vásquez, the WBC’s program coordinator, has been named director, replacing Gitlin. In her new role, she will monitor and manage daily operations of the main WBC office in Melbourne and will also oversee the Rockledge satellite office at CareerSource Brevard. She will focus on developing unique programming at these locations.

“Wanda has been a tremendous addition to our team and I am thrilled to have her as director,” Gitlin said. “I am confident she will use her highly-driven work ethic and leadership abilities to excel in her new position.”

Gitlin has been with the Women’s Business Center at Florida Tech for seven years overall, also serving as a board member and volunteer. Her career highlights include serving as president and owner of the international trade consulting company Global Passages; vice president of global sourcing and product development for General Foam Plastics Corp.; and various merchandising and international positions with Wal-Mart with responsibilities involving trade with more than two dozen countries. She also served four years as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps.

Lipscomb-Vásquez came to Florida Tech and the WBC in July 2013. Prior to joining the center, she worked in a variety of roles in corporate healthcare. She is fluent in English and Spanish and also previously lectured at Eastern Florida State College.
