High School Students Can Sharpen Writing, Get Creative In Summer Writing Camp

For the first time, Florida Tech offers a Summer Writing Camp for high-school students on the Melbourne campus. The camp aims to sharpen participants’
skills in writing SAT and college application essays as well as offer enriching experiences in fiction writing and film scriptwriting.

The course runs the week of June 26-30. Creative writing sessions meet 9 a.m. to noon; expository writing sessions meet 1 to 4 p.m. The cost is $275 to
enroll in both-morning and afternoon-sessions; $150 per student for the morning or afternoon sessions only. The cost includes a notebook of writing
techniques.

Assistant Professor of Humanities and Communication, Marcia Denius, will lead participants in a variety of writing experiences. These include an outing in
the Florida Tech Botanical Garden as background for writing about the campus retreat. Adding variety will be guest speakers and optional film showings from
4 to 5 p.m. each day. Instructor Mary Mullins will lead the SAT and college essay sessions.
