Horst, Davis Named SSC Runners of the Week
ORLANDO, Fla. – (Oct. 1) Panther Cross Country earned double honors this week as two runners have been selected as Sunshine State Conference Runners of the
Week.
Carolyn Salois Horst picked up the title for the women after posting her second consecutive individual victory at the Gulf Coast Stampede. Horst
posted a career-best time of 19:15 in the 5K event to finish first of 48 runners. Her efforts helped the Panthers place third in the team standings.
Morgan Davis was selected for the men after being the Panthers’ top finisher at the Gulf Coast Stampede, posting a time of 28:06 to finish 15th of 64
runners in the 8K event. Davis’ performance helped Tech register a fourth-place finish in the event.
The last time two cross country runners of the week came from Florida Tech was on October 17, 2004 when Marcia Alvarado picked up the title for the women
and David Stephens claimed the title for the men.
Panther cross country will travel to Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 6 to compete in the Disney Cross Country Classic.
