Humanities Lecture Topic Is Journal of Light

MELBOURNE, FLA. — After this Journal of Light lecture, you may never look at Florida in the same light again. John Moran, of the Florida Humanities
Council,
has spent over 20 years discovering the soul of one of the most photographed states in the country. He will speak on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Denius Student
Center’s Hartley Room on campus. This presentation is open and free to the public.
Moran’s ever-evolving speaking program, called “exquisite,” “powerful,” “lyrical,” is part of the university’s continuing Humanities Lecture Series.
A former Gainesville Sun photographer, writer and editor, Moran has been named Photographer of the Year for the Southeastern U.S. by the National Press
Photographers Association. His photographs appeared in numerous publications including National Geographic, Life, Time, Newsweek, Smithsonian, the New York
Times Magazine. They also have been on the cover of the National Audubon Society Field Guide to Florida.
