Iacobelli Tied for Second after First Round at NCAA’s

LAKELAND, Fla. – Daniela Iacobelli (Melbourne, Fla.), in Tech’s first post-season appearance in the program’s four-year history, is currently tied for
second place as an individual for the Panthers. She shot one over par for a 73 for day one of a 54-hole tournament.

With three players shooting 75 or better, Florida Southern has the first-round lead at the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf South Regional at The Club at
Eaglebrooke in Lakeland. The Moccasins finished Monday’s 18-hole round with a team score of 298, putting them six strokes ahead of Rollins and West
Florida, both of which shot 204. Lynn is fourth at 214, followed by Barry at 315 and Nova Southeastern at 317. Florida Southern’s lead could have been
bigger if each of its golfers had not bogeyed the par five 17th hole.

Individually, Nova Southeastern freshman Maria Garcia-Austt, the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, was the only player to break par, as she
turned in an opening round of one-under-par 71. She has a two stroke lead over Florida Southern’s Lindsey Bergeon, last year’s Division II runner-up,
Florida Southern’s Jackie Barenborg and Florida Tech’s Iacobelli, the Sunshine State Conference Tournament champion who is playing as an individual.

The tournament continues with 18-hole rounds Tuesday and Wednesday.
