InSTEP Lecture Looks at Effect of Hurricanes on Floridas Fisheries

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Jon Shenker, Ph.D., will present “Effects of Hurricanes on Florida’s Fisheries. . . and Other Fish Tales” on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. The lecture,
an Ocean Discovery Seminar, will be in the Eau Gallie High School Auditorium. Part of Florida Tech’s Integrated Science Teaching Enhancement Partnership
(InSTEP) program, the talk is free and open to the public.

Shenker is a Florida Tech associate professor of biological sciences and director of the Sportfish Research Institute. He is a noted researcher in fish
ecology, and fisheries.

InSTEP is funded by a $1.7 million grant to Florida Tech from the National Science Foundation. The program enables university graduate students and faculty
to work with high school integrated science teachers in Brevard County public schools to develop inquiry-based learning modules.
