Florida Tech’s WFIT Raises $9,000 through NPR On-line Auction
– WFIT-89.5FM, a service of Florida Tech, joined 24 other National Public Radio (NPR)-sponsored radio stations, recently, to raise money through a
week-long, on-line auction. The national event raised a total of $678,993. The participating stations will share proceeds from the national items sold.
WFIT contributed 25 items, raising a total of $9,000 for the radio station. The auction’s top two sellers were an invitation to play in the 2005 Tim
Wakefield Celebrity Golf Classic, which sold for $2,500, and a genuine Nike soccer jersey autographed by Olympics gold medal winner, Mia Hamm. It sold for
$750.
