January Autism-Related Workshop Explores Strategies for Special Education
MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology’s School of Psychology offers free monthly workshops of particular interest to parents, educators and
professionals who deal with the issues of autism. The Jan. 28 workshop is “Strategies for Creating Agreement in Special Education.”
The presentations, scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m., take place in the Hartley Room, second floor of the Denius Student Center, in the heart of campus.
The January speaker is Fran Warkomski, Ed.D., executive director of The Scott Center for Autism Treatment at Florida Tech. The center provides community
outreach programs and family services as well as social skills groups after school.
Warkomski’s presentation will focus on prevention strategies to address special education conflicts before they occur. Early resolution and problem solving
will be emphasized.
