– WFIT radio 89.5, a service of Florida Tech, and Del Sol Grill present Sunset Jazz on Friday, May 28th, 6:00-8:00 p.m. The featured artist will be jazz
pianist extraordinaire Sunnie Paxson of Orlando. Appearing with Sunnie will be Monique, a jazz singer who according to Sunnie, “can sing it all.” Both
Sunnie and Monique recently appeared at the Mall of Millennium’s First Friday event and received glowing reviews and an invite to return. They also appear
at many private parties and club functions in the Central Florida area.
Paxson, a child prodigy student of Jimmy Amadie and the late, world-renowned French jazz pianist, Bernard Peiffer, is a graduate of the famous Berklee
College of Music. After graduation, Sunnie played gigs in Atlantic City and was discovered by legendary bassist Stanley Clarke. Clarke was so impressed by
this young talent that he asked her to be the keyboardist in his band. While touring with him she was featured on his album, “Find Out.”
Under the guidance of Clarke, Sunnie began writing feature film scores and TV theme music, which has continued to this day. Her music is heard regularly on
major TV networks.
Moving to Los Angeles, Sunnie was immediately welcomed with requests for session work, arranging, producing and performing. In Los Angeles Sunnie recorded
with or shared the stage with such luminaries as Harvey Mason, Everette Harp, John Patatucci, Larry Carlton, and Michael Paulo. Also, Los Angeles Magazine
voted her one of “Los Angeles’ “Best Jazz performers.”
Eventually, Sunnie moved to Orlando where she began working on her 2002 released album “Groove Suite.” Currently, when she is not on the road, Sunnie is
working on another CD, “Groove Train.” She will be appearing in Europe this summer and will open for Stanley Clarke at the world famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz
Club in London.
Join Sunnie and Monique in the cozy, relaxed atmosphere of Del Sol Grill on Friday, May 28th, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. WFIT members are $5 and prospective members
